How Engino Leads STEM

Mission

At ENGINO, our mission is to inspire and empower children to learn and create through play while also helping them develop their cognitive, social, and emotional skills. We strive to provide quality tools and resources for educators and parents to support children's learning and growth.

Values

Our Core Values are fostering creativity, innovation, quality, education, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility. We believe in encouraging children to explore and experiment with their ideas and designs, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with our unique snap-fit system, producing high-quality and safe products, minimizing our impact on the planet, and creating accessible and inclusive products for all children. By upholding these values, we aim to help children around the world unlock their full potential and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

Our Operations

How we Develop our Solutions

Here's a glimpse of our design process: We start with a need for a new product, and our team of experts brainstorms and sketches ideas to bring it to life. Once a design is selected, our Product Designers use advanced mechanical software to create detailed 3D objects, which are then prototyped and tested on real models. We gather feedback from focus groups of children, parents, and teachers, and make iterations until the part is optimized and the models created have the best functionality. Our Educational researchers then step in, creating lesson plans and activities based on what the model is expected to teach. We add new requirements that lead to a redesign of the models, and our Software developers modify the functionalities of our various software such as KEIRO™ and KidCAD™, while the Embedded Systems Engineers design the hardware electronics that drive the robotics sets. Once the product is finalized, our Product Development team creates step-by-step instructions for every model, and our Graphics design team designs the artwork for the packages and booklets. We then test the product again with focus groups to ensure that it has indeed solved the problem it was designed for, and if it passes all tests, it goes into manufacturing. At ENGINO, we're committed to providing products that are not only fun and engaging but also educational and environmentally responsible.

How we Assure Quality

Engino takes quality seriously. Our team of professionals in Europe works together to develop innovative solutions, including engineers, educators, and marketing experts. We prioritize health and safety in all our products, testing every component for user-friendliness, quality, and safety. Before manufacturing, external certified labs test each individual part and final product to ensure it meets international standards for mechanical and physical properties. Our factory and production line are certified with the ISO9001 management system, and we have an internal Quality Assurance team to take random samples from each production stage for testing and approval. We follow strict inspection and quality control standards to ensure every child receives a safe toy. We test for the below standards: Mechanical and Physical Properties, Flammability, and Migration of certain elements under EN71-1(Europe), ASTM F963(USA), AS/NZS 8124(Australia/New Zealand), and SOR/2011-17(Canada), REACH- EC/1907/2006, RoHS(10), EN62115 for Electric Toys, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Soluble Heavy Metals, Phthalates, Total Lead Content, SVHC 209(Substances of Very High Concern), EMC- EN55032 and EN55035

How we Manufacture

Engino has revolutionized the manufacturing process of its products by bringing all production to its state-of-the-art factory in Cyprus. With investments in cutting-edge automation machines and prototyping systems, we've set new standards for product quality, cost efficiency, and time to market. Our production process involves four key departments: First, our design and manufacture of Injection Molds, which form the shape of each component. Next, plastic part production where rice-like pellets are transformed into ENGINO snap-fit parts through a complex process of melting and molding in our Injection Machines. Once parts are produced, they are counted and sorted into bags using our automatic bagging machines. Lastly, the packaging stage involves our special machine that erects, fills, seals, and weighs carton boxes, ensuring no error in packaging. Engino's cutting-edge factory and production process guarantee our customers get high-quality products with shorter lead times, meeting our commitment to quality and efficiency.

How we Distribute and Support

Our authorized distributors in each country import and warehouse the products, delivering them to the shelves of toy shops and department stores. In fact, many large retail chains buy directly from our factory and work with local distributors to offer extensive customer support, such as replacing missing or defective parts and organizing events and competitions. For schools, Engino classroom solutions follow a similar path, reaching Ministries of Education and public and private schools, and providing training to teachers through our expert network of professional trainers. But that's not all - we're also expanding our online presence to protect children from receiving fakes and bad-quality STEM alternatives. Our digital ecosystem actively engages children, parents, and teachers through smart communities where young inventors and innovative teachers can share ideas. You can access exclusive designs, buy loose parts, download software, and use the latest e-learning technologies while participating in online competitions and virtual robotic labs. And that's not even the best part - all Engino products come with an extended 3-year warranty once registered. This means missing parts from new boxes will be replaced for free, and any damaged or faulty component will be replaced at no cost for the full 3 years of the warranty. Plus, you can access 3D instructions for building all models found in our sets on our website or the kidCAD™ free app for Android and iOS tablets, and all experiments and theories included in the sets are also accessible online with their solutions.

CSR - Environmental Policy

Engino is committed to protecting our planet, and we're taking three key steps to achieve this goal. Firstly, we design products that teach Science and Technology and inspire young learners to respect the environment. Our Solar Energy sets and STEM lesson plans emphasize sustainability through hands-on experimentation and real-world problem-solving. Our building system also promotes creativity and reusability, reducing waste and allowing children to continue playing and learning without the need for more toys. Secondly, we use materials that can be fully recycled in production, from paper packaging to plastic parts. We're also investing in Photovoltaic Solar Panel technologies to produce clean energy and collaborating with academic institutions to develop unique biodegradable materials that can be used in production. Lastly, we're involving schools in events that promote environmental awareness and encourage positive action. Through partnerships with our distributors, we're inviting children to participate in tree planting, STEM camps, and sustainability-themed competitions. We're proud of the positive impact that our products and initiatives are having on the environment and local communities. Join us in our mission to create a sustainable future for all.

Patents and IP

Engino has been developed through years of Research and Development, carried out by a team of expert engineers, educators, and academics, headed by the inventor Costas Sisamos. Much of the company's Research and Development has been co-funded by National and European Union funds for high-level competitive research. Since its launch, the system has received several local and international awards, while the company's Research and Development team continues to develop innovations, taking Engino to the 3rd generation of construction toys and moving into software and Makespace technologies.
